Requirements for Declaring a Major and Minor – Within the College of Business and Economics
Students are required to declare their major and minor after completing 36 Earned Credit Hours.
Major Admission Criteria
Admission to majors is based on:
- The capacity available in each major
- The student's cumulative GPA
A link to select the major and minor preferences will be sent through the Banner system, and the results of the major allocation will be announced during the same semester of application.
Transfer Conditions within Qatar University
Conditions for Transferring Major to General Business (for Non-Business Students)
Non-Business students wishing to change their major to General Business must meet the following conditions:
- Fulfill Qatar University's policy on major change.
- Have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours AND attended at least two semesters (Fall and Spring) of undergraduate coursework.
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 out of 4.00.
- Demonstration of proficiency in Mathematics by fulfilling one of the following requirements:
| Achieving a score of 200 or above on the QU PLACER Math placement test |
| Passing MATH 103 or MATH 119 or MATH 101 or FN MATH) MATH 021) or MATH P100 (with a minimum grade of C) |
| Achieving a score of 21 or above on the ACT |
| Achieving a score of 500 on the SAT or 530 on the New SAT |

- For English track, the applicant needs to satisfy Qatar University's English Competency requirements by achieving the required score in one of the official English test score.
Please note that admission is competitive and subject to seat availability. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance. In some cases, GPA and credit hour requirements may be reduced based on availability, but passing one of the required math courses is mandatory for the application to be considered.
Changing Minor (For Non-Business Students)
The College of Business and Economics offers only one minor for non-business students: ·
· Entrepreneurship and Innovation for Non-Business Students.
Admission to this minor is also competitive and subject to seat availability.
Internship Course Instructions and Procedures
It is offered in the summer only, and students are required to complete the prerequisite and earn 75 credit hours or more by the end of the spring semester.
Study Abroad Instructions and Procedures The following courses are not allowed to be taken outside of Qatar University:
- All Major required courses.
- All Minor required courses.
- MAGT304 Production & Operations Management.
- MAGT405 Strategic Management.
- All students are required to comply with QU policies of study abroad.
